Cheryl Towns: Breaking Boundaries and Building a Legacy in Entrepreneurship

BW Cheryl Towns

"Embrace the power of collaboration, learn from others' experiences, and leverage available resources to navigate the entrepreneurial journey successfully."

What does being a Black Female Entrepreneur mean to you?

It means embracing my identity, shattering stereotypes, and adding to the diversity and creativity of the entrepreneurial scene as a Black Female Entrepreneur. This is a chance to reframe conventional narratives in the business industry, inspire others, and effect positive change.

When the atmosphere becomes challenging, what drives you to keep going?

In challenging atmospheres, my determination and commitment to my goals serve as powerful motivators. I thrive on overcoming obstacles, viewing them as opportunities for growth and learning. Additionally, the belief in the positive impact of my efforts and the pursuit of long-term success keeps me resilient and focused during challenging times.

What advice do you have for Black Women who may be considering entrepreneurship?

My advice for Black women considering entrepreneurship is to tap into community networks, attend workshops, and connect with mentors who can offer guidance. Embrace the power of collaboration, learn from others’ experiences, and leverage available resources to navigate the entrepreneurial journey successfully. I personally have found inspiration in my community by actively seeking out free and low-cost workshops, such as those offered by organizations like PSEG and the African American Chambers of Commerce. These resources provide valuable insights and support.
