"It’s about laying a foundation and creating pathways for future generations and inspiring other Black women to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations."

What does being a Black Female Entrepreneur mean to you?
Being a Black entrepreneur to me means being in control of my destiny. I get to choose the projects we work on, the people we hire, and what our worth is. There is something very empowering about signing my own check, or I guess, processing my own ACH now 🙂 It’s also about laying a foundation and creating pathways for future generations and inspiring other Black women to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.
When the atmosphere becomes challenging, what drives you to keep going?
The people who work for ANP keep me going because the work I do directly impacts their lives. There is joy in the work that is being created, particularly because we are producing content that is meant to genuinely and accurately represent people from all backgrounds. It is important to me to dispel some of the stereotypes or assumptions that people have about people who are different from then.
What advice do you have for Black Women who may be considering entrepreneurship?
Embrace your unique perspective – In the beginning, I was trying hard not to create black content because I didn’t want to be labeled a “black production company.” Then I realized that a black production company should be the one creating black stories.
I would also strongly recommend that you build a strong team, starting with a lawyer and an accountant; don’t cheap out on those critical roles.
