Shalette
I have given a helping hand to my son. As a mom, it is my greatest gift to instill foundational values for the future generation. My two core values are kindness and knowledge. I teach my son to be kind, respectful, and share with others. I also ensure my son learns about the world. This image captures the books we read together about different cultures and countries. Being a global citizen is essential to a global economy.
At home, I teach and model values that are in line with the work we do at Zebra Strategies. Knowledge is power, and it can be gained not only from books but also from diverse voices around the world. As a recruiter, I work with clients/participants to create an inclusive environment and ensure their voices are heard. Everyday is an opportunity to learn and create a better tomorrow.

I have given a helping hand to the future of the world, the children. After traveling to over 70 countries across 7 continents, my mission is not only to experience the diversity of the world’s cultures but to also share my greatest gift with the people, acts of service.
In these numerous experiences, my hand has been most impactful in my motherland, Guyana. Giving goes beyond monetary donations, it is also the time you invest with others. Through my work in the orphanages in Guyana, thousands of children have received healthy meals, clothes, and supplies. It was essential during the pandemic to supply internet to the orphanages so the children did not have to compromise their education despite the country’s shutdowns. My charitable services align with the mission of Zebra’s work. Serving an underrepresented community to achieve their full potential by listening, learning, and evolving to a better tomorrow. I strive to continue leveraging my hand globally for the future generation so they grow to become our future leaders.

Grace
Grace is a researcher and analyst who writes content and creates final reports for projects at Zebra. Her background in writing and tutoring has given her strong analytical skills, a determined work ethic, and a keen eye for creative opportunities. Despite the limitations of at-home work, Grace values collaboration and connecting with her co-workers. Grace has a BA in History from Oberlin College. Outside of work, she enjoys taking photos, spending time with her friends, and pampering her cat.
“I took this photo with my cat because he is one of my greatest sources of comfort and joy. I’ve always felt a close bond with animals – they are compassionate and non-judgmental. Their love and affection are rooted in the kindness you show them, regardless of who you are. I believe that compassion is a universally important trait when it comes to listening to others and hearing their stories. That belief is part of what draws me to this work; I am inspired by Zebra Strategy’s core values of empathy, sensitivity, and connection. I believe those values are what allow us to listen to other people’s stories and conduct such fruitful research.”

The puzzle pieces symbolize the beauty of human connection. We may not perfectly align, but there is always room for perspective. Everyone deserves to feel seen, known and valued. I strive to bring this understanding to every interaction I’m part of. As a member of Zebra’s team, I’m always finding opportunities to help fit the complex pieces together and find solutions to the important issues that affect all of us, no matter who we are or what our experience may be.
I bring five years of experience as a market research recruiter to Zebra Strategies. I am passionate about Zebra’s dedication to hard-to-reach communities, as they are often overlooked in research. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of Zebra’s important work.

This is a photo of Harri (short for Harriet). She is a rescue kitty, found in a dumpster on Columbia Ave. in Boston. Right around the corner from a bbq truck that served the best ribs in Boston. Shepherding others through life is a task to be undertaken with gravity. Harri is leading her best life, replete with many culinary treats throughout the day, as well as dozens of napping spots throughout the apartment. She head-butts me when I’ve forgotten to feed her on her regular schedule. That we all may be cosseted like her.
Cooking for others is a passion I’ve had throughout my life. As a restaurant worker in college through being the kitchen coordinator for our congregation of 200 persons, there is always a way to feed others: physically, emotionally, spiritually. In 2016, I had the opportunity to compete in the Boston Magazine’s Burger Battle and emerged victoriously. Both my wife, Rebecca, and my daughter, Sarah, were on hand to witness the event, which capped a lifetime spent figuring out how to nourish others. And the test kitchen that I call my neighbors continues to challenge me to find new and tasty ways to do that.
I am a Market Research Recruiter for Zebra Strategies. I get paid to talk to people! I speak with those who are interested in participating in our surveys from the first conversation through their payment for participation. Coordinating efforts with project managers, pulling surveys from our database, and helping out where needed are additional parts of my shepherding process.

Denisse
In high school, I planned on becoming a chemical engineer. However, that all changed when I worked on a project that required some research where I designed my first survey. I went on to college to complete a BA in communications with a major in advertising, and an MBA in marketing. During my studies, I worked part time as a recruiter and field interviewer. I am passionate about project management and have the following certifications: PMP, CSM, and SAFe CSM.
I have worked in market research for over 30 years and I still love what I do as much as when I uncovered my first insights in high school. I have been blessed to help society through the research I have conducted in higher education and now among underserved communities.
My hand represents my love for the beach; it is my happy place. The sun gives me the energy to go on. I have never lived anywhere where there is a beach close by. That is my key perk, it reminds me I am just one small piece of God’s great creation.

The hands represent my ability to connect with people. Making people feel comfortable comes from my ability to understand and relate to their feelings without judgment. As a result, strong relationships are developed with others. Through my helping hand, I encourage others to express themselves and feel included. My hands also represent the ability to assist wherever needed. The hands represent altruism.

“My hand in this picture signifies new beginnings for my family and me. We just moved into our new home. In my photo, I am wearing my late grandmother’s wedding band. I wear it with pride as a source of strength and a reminder to always be kind. Britney
My hand touching a map represents my love of travel. Before I started working with Zebra Strategies, I embarked on a 6-year journey around the world in search of myself and fell in love with the planet in the process. This hand of mine has touched so many lives whether it be to cup my ear to listen or to point at my mouth to teach. I love being that bright light at the end of the tunnel for people to look to. Since I was a little girl, my plan was to change the world, so here I am, taking it one day at a time and helping one person at a time.
Britney is the Executive Assistant to the CEO at Zebra Strategies. She is the gatekeeper to all things Denene. She makes sure the CEO is on time for her meetings but also makes time for herself. She has over 5 years of experience in the field and loves bringing balance to those who are the busiest. Not only that, but she is also a jack of all trades doing a little bit of everything to support those around her.

For as long as I can remember, people in my life have looked to me as a pillar of strength, a person to provide the positivity they needed when going through challenging times. I have always felt the pull to hear people’s stories and to provide support. Being an empath has aided in my ability to connect with people, but with each person’s insight building on my understanding of the world we live in, it is often emotionally challenging to carry so much. I got this tattoo as a daily reminder that I have a firm foundation and to stay grounded. There will always be light in the darkness, no matter the storm I encounter or hear from others. As a symbol of hope and strength, this tattoo inspires me to remain dependable for both others and myself.

“Here I am putting away the book I just finished reading – “The Art of Political Murder” by Francisco Goldman, which follows the investigation into the murder of Guatemala’s leading human rights activist, Bishop Juan Gerardi. I read a lot; I see myself as a perpetual student, always trying to fill any gaps in my awareness and understanding. My motivation to learn comes from the people I meet at the weekly pro se clinic I volunteer at. I listen to people’s stories, write personal histories, and assist with asylum applications. The friends I’ve met there inspire me to continually seek more knowledge and expose myself to experiences and histories I wasn’t taught about in school. I feel privileged to be able to be a part (however small) of their stories.
At Zebra, I am responsible for research design and analysis. Driven by curiosity and empathy, I take pride in providing perceptive, incisive work. As an experienced writer and analyst, I also draw on my multifaceted background (growing up in nine different states/countries and working in various fields) to adapt and connect with people from vastly different experiences and realities. Since joining Zebra Strategies in 2019, I have been able to make my passion into a career. I hold a B.A. from Bard College. In my spare time, I like to take a book and go to the park with my dog, Champ.”
